Interesting story.
ive read that before, a long time ago.
Interesting.
What's particually interesting is that there is a fighting art that is taught in the south of Italy that is supposed to be extremely effective. I was in Italy in October and had the opportunity to speak with some of the old timers that practice. Specifically, the art is from the greater Napoli area but I was in Benevento (specifically the town of Apice).
From my research it seems a lot of the "style" (they wouldn't classify it as a style) uses many of the concepts in the book "Flos Duellatorum." Pretty funny though because I don't believe the folks I spoke with know anything about "Flos Duellatorum."
I did ask if they call it something, this type of fighting. They laughed a little but one of the old guys did tell me that it is called or referred to as giocco stretto.
Tim, I'll be back there in march to do some more work but while I'm there I'll try to pick up some stuff and see if these guys will work with me a little. Also, it looks like I can be out at your school in Feb. so maybe you can help me sort stuff out when I'm in Italy asking these guys and working with them
Good training,
Joe
It's interesting that a man who defended himself and others against four armed criminals would be under investigation for "excessive use of force."
Tim,
Got an email this morning with some information from the folks I visited with I was telling you about. I'll forward it over to you after I translate it. It's pretty interesting.
I'm looking forward to it.
You could become the new Fiore.
I certainly have the body for it...
Interesting about the body mechanics in the text isn't it?
