Hi All,
At last Saturdays Ba Gua class, some of us were talking about static contraction workout. I'm interested in knowing more. I'm wondering if any of you could post some links to good sites about the subject. I know some of you gave me the URL to the sites but ... the it was too long for me to remember.
Thanks,
Duong
The only thing I can remember clearly from Saturdays' class, and the last few days, was Glen saying something about a new throw he wanted to demonstrate on me.
Everything else is hazy.
Sum Guye,
Sounds like your living in fear! Looking over your shoulder for Glen to come up and throw you? I guess that could be a little nerve racking. Remember it's not the fall, it's the sudden stop.
Happy landing!
Bob
Fear? Me? Not in the slightest. All of my internal organs, however, are petrified they'll get another shock like that some day... but I'm okay with it.
Luckily, I am not an internal organ.
Duong,
I don't remember anything about a website. You could probably look up power factor training on the web and get some links. Personally I wouldn't do it. I'd just do the tendon strength exercises, joint exercises, power exercises, ground exercises and isometrics. The Shen Wu curriculum is extensive enough that it makes it pointless to go outside of what Tim teaches. I think it's good to know what is out there, but I think Tim's got it all figured out and I'm going to follow the Shen Wu formula.
Sum Guye,
Glen did the same throw on me last night. Twice. I've got to practice those backfalls more often.
Twice?!!? well, that proves that you are more of a Meynard than I am.
A Meynard? = a voluntary action that is often caused by a lack of common sense that results in self injury.
A Meynard= a reliable, nearly indestructible
pain demonstration model. Often characterized has
lacking basic common sense. Sometimes mistaken for a Mexican. Best known for interrupting filming of a movie by running into a scene to help actor Dennis Franz cross a street on crutches..
If you are interested in reading about the subject, you can buy a copy of "Static Contraction Training" by Sisco and Little in the larger bookstores.
Tim,
I thought they gave a pretty good exposition of a Meynard without buying a book.
