That brings back fond memories! I competed in the event in the 60s. It used to be called "The Pillage Championships" but with growing world scrutiny the Finish government instituted a law in early 70s saying that the women had to be 'consenting' and the competition removed the most enjoyable part of the event, the climactic end.
By the way, its a little known fact that the unbelievable spectacle that happened after a group of burley men carried a struggling damsel for miles to a large bed of straw is were the world got the term "Finish Line"
