Thanks Backarcher.
is this guy any good?
That's not the point, the point is he is a nice guy, and also patriotic.
What more could anyone want from an MMA fighter?
So true!
Today, you have so many fighters attached to their "legacy" or being the "best pound for pound", yet Fedor just sort of lives in the moment.
He really wants to be a role model for his people and takes his Russian Sambo seriously due to the fact it's the only way his people can see him fight live and that the art is Russian, like his people.
Money and ranking are not more important to him than his country and people. I don't think Dana White gets that.
Rickson said, after watching him fight, "there is nothing special about his technique". Which is true. Yet, if you look at Rickson's BJJ in his MMA fights, you could easily say "there is nothing special about his BJJ technique in MMA". But we know in BJJ, he is special.
Fedor is just a special "fighter", not wrestler, Judoka, Sambo or BJJ player or striker...but "fighter".
He will lose soon...everyone does. Maybe this weekend, but it won't matter. He is still "Fedor".
I think what my friends say in BJJ is a valuable idea: Rickson (and Kron) don't do anything that you don't learn in your first six months as a white belt. They just do it better.
