Thats me with the stick, and the other co instructor at my school, Michael Varin.
Michael has a little over a year of kickboxing and Karate training, some Judo, and is also an Aikido black belt like myself.
We made this video showing how the range of a stick can change the exchange when you are trying to box.
In this I opted to use none of the unarmed boxing covers or other means of protecting myself. So it's pretty close to and Aikido guy with a stick, sparring with a guy with some striking training.
If this were a wakazashi (Short sword) instead of a padded club, you can see how short the fight would be. And likely why the Japanese didn't have a system of boxing.
