Meynard... how would you describe heng to someone that never saw it? Not the thoughts and theory.

Robert. Never said I didn't understand the ideas/philosophy behing heng... I dig your slinky idea though. However, I don't think an elbow break is the best delivery of heng. The chances of a successful elbow break are slim. It seems more practical to hit the person in his "floating rib" or a soft vunerable area.

Make sure you put that feather back in your cap when you've finished Meynard.

On Mike Pattersons site he speaks of his instructor using Peng (crushing fist) to dislocate his shoulder)although I am not certain if this is the same movement discussed here.

sleepydragon,
I am from UK but most of the shenwu guys have never heard of the place. It is a little island in europe. Karate block does it use force against incoming force, sounds sloppy.

Meynard,
thanks now I know what it does not look like I will go around using it all the time and say you taught me. ASS.

Robert,
bears store fat by eating loads before going to sleep for a long time. If I knew I could get power this way I would never have denied myself bring on the cream cakes.

Qui chu ji,
I am going to the UK in about five years... looking forward to it. No, heng does not use force against force. I was only describing what it looks like, sort of. There is a few websites you can visit that are great, and you can see what heng looks like and its uses. Visit www.emptyflower.com(lots of info), www.hsing-i.com(goto the mpegs and download clips) and of course www.shenwu.com. Between these sites you find more than enough Hsing-I.

That would be great it would make you look more stupid than you do now, qui chu ji.

Man all these secret chinese terms my head is swirling. I thought the five laws are the three directions, open close the body, and a little crossing. But what do I know? I practice club-foot wack head style.

Sleepydragon
are you coming to UK on holiday or to live/work. Do you know where abouts you will be staying yet.
Do you teach Hsingyi if so count me as your first UK student. I have always wanted to do some IMA.

Qui Chu Ji,
Just for holiday. I am going to London and Manchester. Depending on the time I have, I would like to see more. I appreciate the offer to teach... I heard the U.K. lacks HsingYi teachers. I heard U.K. has plenty of Wing Chun schools. If you can find a good Wing Chun school, I recommend it, also the My Jhong Law Horn system. Many past masters that studied Hsing I started in My Jhong Law Horn.

Sleepydragon,
I have been practicing yip man wing chun kuen for 4 years. I would really like to practice IMA but only yang style is popular and most teachers do not know fighting applications. The other style you mentioned is it buddhist fist/palm.

Hi qui chu ji

there are 2 Wu Tai Chi schools in London. Here is one of them:

http://www.wustyle-europe.com/

Look under "Applications". They do San Shou Full Contact with protection.

Hi Qui Chu Ji. The My Jhong Law Horn is the lost track(my jhong or mizong) and Law Horn(Lohan) is the shaolin side. if you are interested in reading more on it I can recommend a few websites. The post by Peter for the Wu Style... Wu style is really good and will mix with your wing chun well. Wu style is a tighter style of tai chi. I feel comfortable saying that... I also do Wing Chun(for 10 yeras) and practice Yang Taichi and Chen Pan Ling Taichi. The Chen Pan Ling (which is a tighter/small movements) blends better with wing chun, and wu style moves like chen pan ling does. I mean this in re to the tighness and small moves, not the actual form itself. *** is it true there are alot of Southern Mantis(hakka styles) schools in the UK?

sleepydragon,
there is a chow gar school in london but the rest of the mantis I have seen tends to be seven star northern mantis. London is the only place with a real diversity of styles. outside the capital you are mainly left with wing chun, Hung gar, lau gar, shaolin styles and yang taiji.

Peter,
thanks I had not heard that there was a wu taiji school in london. I will try to check it out sometime this year hopefully. Can not make the residential course as I have a wing chun seminar close to same time, but the price sounds very reasonable. Thanks again for info.

Hey Qui Chu Ji. I would check out the Chow Gar school. That is an excellent style and hard to find. I did a little jook lum kwong sai mantis(southern mantis) and its awesome.
