Tim's Discussion Board: Xing Yi Quan: Modifying the elements: Archive through February 20, 2012
By Timothy on Monday, February 20, 2012 - 03:50 pm: Edit Post

Dude, I never criticized Tim's hsing I article. Its a good article. You dissed my spelling because you have no leg to stand on, no new information to give. I type all this from an iPhone and at some points it stops working which is why I have one post ending with an incomplete sentence and then a follow up post confusing where my phone wouldn't let me. It's much easier to denigrate the opposers view instead of actually arguing his points.

"I've done some Shuai jiao and the power generation is the same". This is the perfect example of someone who stands around doing forms all day. Just because the "power generation is all the same" doesn't mean you can actually do anything

By Timothy on Monday, February 20, 2012 - 03:54 pm: Edit Post

See? It happened again.

Just because you've discovered through intensive Shuai jiao study that the power generation is the same doesn't mean you can do anything accept put up videos of you doing 5 element forms. Why even put up a video that thousands of others have as well?

The fact that you mentioned POWER GENERATION instead of a real skill, like an actual throw, shows that you have limited knowledge of everything. People with skills don't talk about power generation using the legs(duh). They actually use power generation.

Tell is again how stake standing helps with fighting ability. That was another of your amazing statements from the past.

Robert, describe your hsing I class please. Thanks.what activites do you do? Forms, technique drilling, etc.

And for the record I haven't said anything bad about Tim or his articles. I think you're seeing things.

Dude, I just watched you rambling about skulls. You're a college guy talking to yourself about yourself inbetween classes on YouTube. That's dweeby and that means, between you and I, that you're actually a kid.

That's too much trouble. Thanks for the info though.

Okay, fine. I guess i have just been getting it wrong this whole time..

"His explanation sounds like it is based more off of Chinese that was directly translated"

I was under the impression that you were being hyper critical of the article. Sorry for assuming, i guess..

If that was not your intent, please clarify for me..

Anyway, you have said plenty of other things that are just ridiculous..

You claim that xing yi is a "modern peace time martial art" which is pretty much a made up term..

You claim that forms are not effective, and

you claim that all techniques, when executed, should look like they do in the form.

You dont know the difference between except and accept..

You claim that i have no knowledge of how to apply skill in a real situation, for what its worth, my mother art was Judo, father art, Wrestling. Plus i know kung fu, and have been training with makiwara posts since a very young age, so Boom..

Oh and thanks for watching my you tube video, theyre pretty stupid arent they. lol

also, thanks for looking up my past post history, as you can see, I was young once too..

Man, you are all over the place...

What exactly is your argument, can you simplify it for me? Lets stick to specifics..

Hey! A tongue twister!

You fool. I was talking about YOUR explanation of what pi means. Tim's translation fits what I believe pi to mean. You big dummy. Keep studying.

By Timothy on Monday, February 20, 2012 - 10:52 pm: Edit Post

Go back and reread my statement. I was complimenting Tim's explanation of pi because he translates it as a direction instead of a specific technique. In principle based arts his is how you make up techniques off of principles. In the case of pi the principle is "downward" or "splitting".

Robert, your definition of pi is that it is a specific technique which it is not since hsing I is a principle based system. I was saying Tim's translation was the goods while yours was just mental masturbation while you drill it in the air. Comprendi?(do you understand? It's italian).

Okay, fine, whatever man.

I guess your initial question was so stupid that i couldnt understand it:

"How are the tiger and monkey linked to this specific downward energy? You wrote that the monkey's version of pi quan is random powerful palm strikes coming from different angles. How is this "downward"? Is the downward energy of pi not meant to be taken as literal?"

My fault. I dont speak retard.

And you are still talking nonsense.

??? *shrugs

By Timothy on Monday, February 20, 2012 - 10:59 pm: Edit Post

I started this thread asking a question then you respond with retardedness about how pi quan is a hsing I technique and his all my questions would be answered through practice.

I just don't like forms much these days. That's the bottom line.

Why would you go from fighting arts like wrestling and judo to hsing I? That makes no sense unless you're old which you aren't cause you're in school. Was the real stuff too tough for you?

By Timothy on Monday, February 20, 2012 - 11:01 pm: Edit Post

One of these days I'll get to my computer so I can stop making ten posts to your every one.

I don't take Internet quarterbacking seriously. It's just he Internet. It's fun to debate nonsense. You like it too or you wouldn't be responding and hanging on my every word.

By robert on Monday, February 20, 2012 - 11:03 pm: Edit Post

I didnt even give you my definition of pi quan...

My definition of pi quan? I was taught that it was a block for a kick, followed by a drilling punch, followed by pi chuan. Pi chuan can attack the arm, leg, head etc.. while the drilling arm traps the extended limb.

Thats my definition. I dont really focus on the energy stuff. I did when i was a beginner, but now, i concentrate more on application.

You are also pretty much calling me out on my skills, saying that i cant fight.. which i dont really mind, since that is amateur beahvior..

I have fought enough in my life, on the sidewalk, and in the circle, to know what i can and cant do.Your mentally fabricated notion that all i do are forms, doesnt really bother me..

"Why would you go from fighting arts like wrestling and judo to hsing I? That makes no sense unless you're old which you aren't cause you're in school. Was the real stuff too tough for you?"

See? Its stuff like this that makes you sound ignorant. Just giving you a heads up.

Just goes to show you have absolutely no knowledge of xing yi quan...

Kiddo..

By Timothy on Monday, February 20, 2012 - 11:08 pm: Edit Post

I was trying to talk more generally about form based martial arts. And then I forgot what we were talking about.

Anyway, sorry if I offended you. I don't know you or your skills so I'm letting this all go. This thread is officially done.

By robert on Monday, February 20, 2012 - 11:12 pm: Edit Post

cmon, no need to apologize patna. its the internet... I was never offended, and yes, it is pretty fun, i guess im not that old yet..

I have a ridiculous story. I've been low on money lately and my girlfriend knows this and is sympathetic cause she ain't rich either. I call her too discuss what we want for dinner. I walk into her house and her mom offers me chicken parm, baked ziti, and salad which they had ordered earlier for dinner. I say to my girlfriend, "you didn't consider FREE food to be one of the options? I couldve saved myself $20. Wtf? Who doesn't like chicken parm? I'm not a fan of the ziti but I love chicken parm. I ask again. Wtf was going through her mind?
