Hi Tim and everybody else.
I bought the book about two years ago and have been doing the health exercises virtually every day.Recently I have also been doing San Ti Shi for about ten minutes on either side.Where I live there is a distinct lack of internal arts teachers. The classes that are available are mainly 'tai chi for health'for over sixties etc. What I'm asking is,will doing the exercises be of any benefit to me in the external art that I practice(eskrima)and can I continue using books for stance practice.

Hello Mark,
The Nei Gong exercises are good for general fitness, coordination and control and should be of benefit to any other activity.

Stance practice can be a little detailed, but if you are diligent you should be able to practice Santi Shi on your own.

Personally I think Escrima has more "internal" qualities than "external."

Actually, I think martial arts is just martial arts. It sure does take awhile to realize that though.

Hi,

Can someone clarify a point for me please?
I need a point clarified concerning the exercise where you are circling your arms vertically overhead and to the front. Do you "power" this movement from the waist or do you just hold the waist still and just rotate from the shoulder?
Any help appreciated.

Brian,

The waist should move with the arm.

Hi Tim

I´ve finally got a copy of the book, took me two years to get it, it is kinda hard to find.

I`m kinda wondering about the same exercise

Should the arm be "powered" by the waist and not moved by the shouldermuscles
at all or should you use the shouldermuscles in some degree?

Best Regards
Tobias

Tobias,

You should use the shouder muscles in coordination with the hips/waist.

Hi Tim

But should the shoulders do most of the work or the hips?
