Xingyi master - Monk Henglin

Tim's Discussion Board: Xing Yi Quan: Xingyi master - Monk Henglin
   By Johan Polson on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 - 02:32 am: Edit Post

I practice Shorinji Kempo and found out that the founder of Shorinji Kempo, Doshin So, practiced
xingyiquan with Monk Henglin when he was living in China (from 1928 up to 1946). So could you tell me some information about that Henglin? What kind of man he was? His technique? When he lived? Lineage? Everything goes.

Following text is taken from History of Yiquan (Dachengquan)

First he [Wang Xiangzhai,founder of yiquan/dachengquan] went to Shaolin Temple [at the beginning of the century], where he learned xinyiba (a system related to xingyiquan) from monk Henglin (also known as Changlin or Xianglin - later Doshin So, founder of Shorinji Kempo, learned from the same monk).

You can found more information about Shorinji Kempo's history from Swedish Shorinji Kempo Federation

If you can enlighten me on these questions, I'll be very grateful.

Johan;
I wondered why your hyperlinks didn't activate. I found the following quirk at the Discus support center. It refers to a option I can set. I modified your message as to activate the links. As you can see I made no changes to your text. I hope you don't mind, but people are more likely to read what you have to say when we make it easy for them.

Activate URLs and e-mail addresses in posts

If checked, this will convert any URL of the form http://www.server.com/dir/page.html and any e-mail address of the form username@domain.com to an "active link." This is the default option, although automatic conversion is invoked only if the user has not used other formatting in the post (since it is assumed that if other formatting is used, the user would also know how to use the \link and \mail formatting tags). If unchecked, this automatic activation does not occur.
