Tim,Did you study any hsingi with Lo De Xiu and if you did, what did he consider his style,Hobei or Shanxi. Thanks,Ed H.

I studied a little Xing Yi Quan with Luo, but I had already studied the same style with another of Hung Yi Xiang's students, so it was basically the same. Luo's Xing Yi is He Bei style, through the lineage of Zhang Jun Feng to Hung Yi Xiang.

Tim, several years ago Master Zhang Bao Yang gave you a videotape featuring the contents of the Hsing-I style taught by Master Wang. Are there any plans to share this tape with enthusiasts of the Hsing-I world?

Zhang Bao Yang never gave me a tape of Wang Ji Wu's Xing Yi Quan. I believe he gave Dan Miller a tape with Zhang demonstrating some forms and the spear.

Hello Tim,
I was wondering how close is Hsu Hong Chi's xing i and Hong I-Hsing's xing i in terms of style and forms? I love your site! Thanks for the hard work!

Hello O,
Hong Yi Hsiang was Hsu Hong Chi's teacher, so the style is the same. Hsu Hong Chi's forms were somewhat smaller in movement than some other of Hong's students, but the forms are essentially the same.

Hello
Thanks for your answer. I believe (i could be wrong) that Hsu Hong Chi tought Hsing I weapons. I did'nt think Hong Yi Hsinag tought weapons forms do you know where he got them?
thanks again O

The only weapon form I saw in Hsu's school was a staff form. I think Hong (or someone in Hong's school) taught a set called 'Zhou Tong Bang.' I learned the form from Luo De Xiu (who learned it, I believe, in Hong's school). I don't know if Hsu Hong Chi taught any other weapons forms.

I was wondering whether anybody knew anything about Master James McNeil. Is his Hsing I anything like / similar to Luo De Xiu's?? Any comments would be well received

Hello Tim,
Do you know why Wang Ji Wu called his Xing Yi "Dai family" Xing Yi? I have not seen any of his contemporaries ues this term. From what i know (which is very little) they called their Xing Yi "Hebei".
Thanks
Owen

Hi Tim,

You learned Xing yi quan with Xu Hong Ji and then with his son Xu zhen wang right? I am now living in Taipei and practicing with Luo. Nevertheless, I would be very interested in meeting with Xu Zhen Wang if he still teaches. Would you by any chance have his contact address or nb?

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael,

Unfortunately, Xu Zhenwang closed his school down years ago. I don't have any current contact information.

Good luck with your training.
