my favorite is the one with Tina Witz...grrrrrrrr
haha...yeah....
I actually just got off the phone with Stan Witz and he said that their guy might have the footage ready. So I just sent an email to their guy and well see what happens.
are you the guy wearing the athletic cup OUTside your pants?
Bob#2
haha, yes sir. Trying to start a movement. pretty soon I hope to have a small but loyal following of those who wear the cup outside of their pants. it shall be marvelous!!!
On the real though, I just thought it would be fun and it got some great stares.
Bob#2 is sure that was great fun. Did you pretend to limp, mumble and stick out your tongue frequently to make the effect convincing?
No but well see what i come up with for next time, haha. My trip back down to mexico has been delayed out a couple/few months and there is another vegas tournament in january so i might go to it.
Kelly
What do your boxing coaches in Mexico think about you constantly dropping your hands while fighting?
Thanks
Jake
I do that quite a bit less in real fights or matches. For instance in vegas i rarely did it. I did do it once or twice and it was kind of a taunting thing, but it was quite a bit different than in the little sparring session. My coaches in mexico drilled the idea to keep my hands up as well as many other things while i was down there.
Jake I also read your article about the ground dragon cannon in some kung fu magazine the other day. Pretty cool stuff. Well written as well.
Thanks kelly for the explanation and the kind words. I always welcome constructive criticism in ways I can improve technique, and/or writing.
Cheers
Jake
it appears as though every picture has both fighters clinching or on the ground.
i wonder if the study of BJJ, Judo, Wrestling or Sambo might prove more efficient?
Jason-
Of course. Did you read the article? I encouraged people to study any of the above! Even mentioned many of the techniques are antiquated.
Cheers
Jake
HMMM, I thought I had replied here but I suppose I will do it again.
Jason, almost every one of the fights with kids went to the floor(with some dope jitsu by the way, lol). In the adults section about 2/3 or 3/4 went to the ground at some point. Some stayed there for the rest of the round some got back up after some failed submission attempts. My two fights both hit the ground at some point or another. In the first one I threw him on the ground a few times and I finally decided to follow him there. Once we were there i faught for position for awhile then threw a couple of strikes and got back up. The second fight stayed on its feet for awhile then hit the floor as he came in for a single and I reversed it to put him down and I took a knee. He then wrapped me up and I faught off many, many, many submission attempts for roughly three minutes before we got back up again and swung till the end of the round where i pulled jump guard, haha. So yes, one definatelly needed a good groundgame for this comp.
i have found one of the best ways to develop a 'good groundgame' is through the study of BJJ.
As have many.
sorry JB, i was commenting on the fights. the topic of the thread.
no reading for me.
There are pictures too bro;)
Indeed there are. And those are some fun pictures.
Fun?!?!
haha, lots of spinning around twists......
on the real though, pretty cool stuff. I have played around with it some myself since reading it.
I think you missed many a point with the info I was trying to convey if you are "spinning around twisting"
But I am glad you found it useful none the less.
Jake
haha im just playin with you.
