I am not promoting this. I would just like to see what any of you know about it because I have time off & may wish to attend this year.
Are any of you planning to attend? Can anyone tell me anything about the Masters & instructors running the workshops? What should I register for?
This thing sounds well organized & it also sounds like it's getting pretty big. I just want to make sure its worth the time & money. Any feedback is much appreciated.
Come on guys.
I posted this a while ago & nobody gave me any feedback.
Now I went ahead & bought a plane ticket - so I'm going. But I would still appreciate any info.
This series of seminars, demonstrations, & tournaments is being held in Texas in early August.
If anyone has time they can check the website chinwoo.com & see if they recognize any of the people holding workshops.
Thanks.
Dragonprawn, last year, one of these masters sold me a watch he assured me was a "highly prestigious name brand". This was around noon. After a few hours, when the hands on the watch had moved, I noticed it said "Rotex". I sought him out at his hotel, only to be informed he had been run over by a beer truck and sent to a hospital in Rangoon. Angered, I flew there, but upon arrival, was accosted by topless, native fat women and had to hide out in the alleys, forced to subsist off of used gerbils until the American Embassy shipped me back stateside with a shipment of Nike sneakers. I'll never do that again.
Kenneth
Which part of Texas is Rangoon in?
But seriously we have 1 Bob 2 already (although I'd even settle for a response from him at this point).
I know there are some respected & established people that will be doing their thing there but that's about all I know. anything else would be helpful.
Couldn't, at least in theory, a big Texas tournament be a good draw due to its central location? People on both coasts could attend with out too much trouble I guess.
If more people entered the fighting competitions who knows? but maybe their set up is unappealing for some reason? Does anyone know?
Yeung Ma-Lee student association what is it
Dragonprawn, I apologize for the above post. I knew my roommate had a habit of surfing the web drunk and sending obnoxious Emails in my name to various people in my address book, but until this morning, I had no idea he knew my password to this site. I know nothing of Taichi, or even the tournament you are asking about. Again, please accept my apologies. I am moving my computer into my room, so it won't happen again.
you could simply edit your profile and change your password. (or better yet- put a password on your PC to thwart your 'roommate")
Thanks, Shane, but I'm too illiterate to remember more than one password, so I'll just move my PC.
I take it that no one knows beans about this Texas thing.
The only thing I know about Tai Ji in Texas was a San Antonio week long seminar I attended with Yang Zendou back in '99. Seeing Yang Zendou was great but I could tell he was mortified by the cheesey, butt-tucking limp wristed Tai Ji 99% of the attendants exhibited. He was being nice about it but whenever someone asked about swirling chi or breathing into the ground you could just see that he wanted to scream- "IT'S FOR FIGHTING YOU PUSS! FIGHTING- DON'T YOU GET IT.... I'M NOT EVEN A GOOD FIGHTER BUT I GET IT- IT'S A FRIGGIN MARTIAL ART" but he was a gentleman.
I can't remember the name of the guy who hosted the event- he was supposed to be some push hands champion but that was probably because he was much larger and heavier than most- and when he pushed hands with guys his own weight it was just force on force- really funny to watch.
Shane,
Thanks - but I'm pretty sure Yang Zendou is not part of it.
And, by the way, butt-tucking rules!
...only if you're a Chi-Hugger whose closest exposure to a realistic fighting situation is an argument with the cashier at Piggley Wiggley s over an expired coupon.
Why don't you guys start a new thread on "butt-tucking"? I have a shitload of questions about it.
Kenneth'
Why not do a search of the topic "tucking".
On another site I've posted on there is a "been there done that" section for all the pummeled like a dead horse threads. This one certainly fits that description.
Oh. I get it - butt-tucking, shitload. I get it.
