I know this thread is a couple of years old, but I'll put in my two cents.

Hi Cecilia, how are things down in Puerto Rico?

Shane, to answer your question "Does traditional Pa Kua Zhang really have belts?" The answer is no. In fact, traditional Pa Kua does not even use the same uniform as the Pa Kua being discussed. There is an explanation for both of these:

After returning from his training with Master I Chang Ming, Master Magliacano returned to Argentina and tried to popularize Pa Kua. In doing so he realized two factors:

1. People are paying money for the training, and want to see their accomplishments, thus a belt system was developed. A non-competitive system was developed to ensure that Pa Kua would not become just another "sport"
2. The traditional Kung Fu uniforms were relatively unknown and not popular at the time. Master Magliacano, familiar with the popular Japanese arts, incorporated their uniform design into a unique uniform used by Pa Kua today.

This was not done randomly. Master Magliacano consulted with Master I Chan Ming explained why he wanted to make the changes. Master Ming gave approval to do so. These changes were made with the "spirit" of traditional Pa Kua always kept in mind.

The secret to make money with MA is to come up with some bizarre story about a style 10000 years old, originated in Lemuria (like some dudes in Colombia that told me that!), mixed it up with waht ever piece and bits they know about Muay Thai, Karate and Some Judo, add some funky looking outfits and Voila! suckers will be lining up to sign up for the lessons!

LOL . What's up with the tayfammenchuan site?! In one of the pics the girl is wearing chopsticks in her hair. My Japanese girlfriend was puzzled at how many non asian women will wear some kind of asian styled clothing and top it all off with chopsticks in the hair. It's like westerners wearing a spoon in their hair. WTF !! Traditionally some asian women will wear a hairpin. But somehow it has been perverted into chopsticks. Ok that's my fashion rant for today.
