A friend of mine is moving to atlanta and really wants to learn some decent kung fu. I suggested when he gets there to look as hard as he can for a Hsing-I or Bagua School, and that Tai Chi was great also if he could find a decent teacher.

I will link him to the allen pittman website (http://apittman.com). looks like a decent place, but Atlanta is a big place and I am not quite sure how close hes going to be living. I would like to be able to give him a list to head on down there with.

If anyone know of any other decent IMA schools there or even a Instructor who teaches a mix but you think is particularly knowledable and competant that would be awesome. Thank you.

Here's an Atlanta martial arts schools directory. I don't have any experience with the schools listed though.

Theres only a few schools listed there and none of them really seem to be what my friend is looking for.

He is really interesting in taking xing yi, or bagua. I tried to sell him on tai chi if he can find a good teacher, but I don't think hes interested.

Hopefully he will be living within traveling distance to pittman's school, or maybe they can give him more information on people in town that might be closer if not.

Thanks for the link though.

And again if anyone knows of anything personally in Atlanta that would be awesome.

Chinese Shaolin Martial Arts Center or somethingto that effect has internal classes, that teach a combination of the tai chi, ba gua and hsing-yi. It's not totally authentic or traditional, but it was the first school that I ever went to, and it was pretty good. They don't have their head totally up their asses, so it's better than a lot of CIMA teachers. If I went back ATL i'd probably be looking up Pittman too. There's a BJJ/Muay Thai school in Sandy Springs that's pretty cool, maybe for some cross-training? (if you don't have total faith in yr CIMA teacher, do yourself a favor, and just take judo or BJJ or something like that...)

"Atlanta" may mean metro-atlanta, where it's multiple cities and counties. So do you know what exact city your friend is going to live? If it's truly Atlanta, then your friend will be within driving distance.
