I stumbled across this system today. www.invisiblemaster.com Please give me some feedback on this system. It sounds too good to be true. Please give me your opinion of this form. I am always interested in other internal systems.

Looks like some nice Wing Chun-style punches in this video (last part). The sensitivity training could also be derived from here...

I've seen korean Hwarangdo masters do the exact same "steel body" stuff. The rest of it seems like simplified wing chun and chi-hugging. The testimonials and such we've all seen on info-mercials. I just don't know...........

I have been training now under Marko Vesse in Wu Xing Dao for about 16 months and have learnt more about how to control my body and quiet my mind in the time spent under his tuition than the combined time spent with other martial art systems.

The two part meditation which you learn as your very first exercise and continue in your day to day training develops power which lends itself to the true expresson of any martail art form that you have learnt previously.

I myself was recomended to this system by a person whom had been training and instructing Ninjitsu for over 10 years who told me that he had left Ninjitsu because he had found a system that he believed was a true art and after a few simple demonstrations and a taste of what it feels like to be struck using the power that a Wu Xing Dao practitioner develops, i had to give it a go myself and have been training ever since.

It truely has to be seen in person to really understand the depth of this system.

I don't know that it is that sounds too good! I don't see anything here thats amazing! the video of the chick that he has looks far better then anything else on the sight, and I've seen Tim take a person off the street and have them doing most of it befor class is over! And did you hear their teacher talk, or better yet has he heard himself talk, gotta make you think somethings off when the head "master" talks like he's comming off of an 8-ball, and says "ok" 3 times per sentance. That fast punching is super fast alright, but use your scrol wheel to slow it down some, and you'll see some pretty sloppy wrists, I think if you hit anything with your wrist bent like that your damned wrist would brake! I think this vertion of "aussy-fu" is for the birds!

Chris, I have been studying for more than a year and there is sooo much I do not know. Thank you for your observation. I tried to pause the action and look at the wrists but I couldn't see well enough to follow your comment. The fellow does have limited ability in speaking. However I just want to look at his system and its practicality. My major concern is that it appears the practicioner has to make a conscience effort to prepare for impact. I would consider this less practical than what I have seen in some other systems.

Tiny_Object, Thank you for responding to my post. Can you please tell me a little more about the two part meditation? What role does sensitivity training play in the program? How much conscience effort is involved in preparing the body to receive a blow. Thank you.

Ty

Ty,

For a better explaination than any i could hope to give you i would recommend reading the following page as a reference and answer to all of your questions.

http://www.invisiblemaster.com/StagesOfDevelopment.php

As for your primary concern and question : "How much conscience effort is involved in preparing the body to receive a blow?" what you see on the site is in regard to concious effort is some what exgerated by the fact that it is indeed a demonstration and the primary focus of the person taking the blow is exactly that.

When you train all the exercises that are part of the steel body course, you learn them in what we call a living way, which basically means that it becomes a part of you, as natural to you as simply walking, you don't need any real concious effort to walk (unless unfortunately disabled), and certianly you don't need to conciously control every step, It is the same with receiveing a blow. Again my instructor gives a better explaination in the link below.

Chris,

You must remember that the video footage is not at a high enough frame rate to give you an accurate representation of how his arms, wrists and hands are moving. Even when you slow it down to frame by frame, you are missing integral parts of the motion because of the simple fact that the shutter speed was not high enough to capture every instant of movement.

As to your views on my Instructor in general... don't be fooled...

Kind Regards
Steve

Oh,

I wouldn't say I'm being fooled at all!

Even before looking at some of the videos, just the still shots show simple carnival tricks which can be done without any 'martial arts' training of any type. Saw some nice loose shoulders, but generally, I'm with Chris on this.

The demonstrations are not "tricks", but I understand your skepticism, I didn't believe in any of it either until i started training it and actually met one of the guys myself...

*shrugs* each to there own I guess..

Luck with your training.

Give the guy a break and stop harping on the fact that he is not a good speaker. It is totally irrelevant. We are talking about the validity of his system and his martial capabilities, not whether he can cut it as an orator.

my favorite quote from the clips: " it's like Tai Ji, with no structure..."

Just looking at the supplied video link I'd say the system looks rediculous. What the hell is the girl trying to accomplish?

I believe that Wu Xing Dao's (aka InvisibleMaster) techniques are more about trainings one's muscles to respond quickly and in perfect harmony, to the calls of the mind, and even more importantly, the calls of the imagination.

Improvisation, not rote responses, is what separates a Martial Artist from a Master.

You lost me now..."calls of the imagination?" From the looks of it, a simple left jab to her nose would end her training session pretty quick. A left hook could do the trick as well. How about the right hand? Grappling anyone? Perhaps I'm unclear on the term "martial arts."

Will,
you apparently have no idea what fighting is all about, maybe you should try takeing a lesson, or working out some time!! I've had it with posers like you!!! Every one knows magic beats real ability 10 times out of 10!!

By Kenneth Sohl on Thursday, August 07, 2003 - 03:43 am: Edit Post

Will, Chris, why don't the two of you meet and fight it out for real? No rules, no referees! Then, you could cut out the theoretical crap, the on-line chest-beating, and show what all your blah-blahing is really about, hm?

By chris hein on Thursday, August 07, 2003 - 06:37 am: Edit Post
