No argument there. I have a buddy who started Muay Thai while he was still a student of a Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do school. His hard roundhouse kicks he'd developed kicking the banana bag was putting out sparring partner after sparring partner(including me) who tried blocking with the forearm as they usually did Tae Kwon Do kicks.

He shoulda stuck with Tae Kwon Do ... I bet he'd have owned everyone in there in a matter of weeks!

Duong:

I believe those were Superfights under San Shao rules. As far as I know he has never fought an actual K1 fight. I look forwrad to hearing about his MMA debut. I heard he was training hard and people expect big things.

Cung Le's MMA debut on Mar 26, 2006 at San Jose in California....Yeah! Good Lucks to Cung Le...Way to go...I'm one of your fans...:-)

On Friday March 10th, Cung Le dominated in his MMA debut in front of the largest audience ever to witness an MMA event. With a sold out crowd at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA, Cung Le wins by knock out his bout with Mike Altman in 3 minutes 51 seconds of the first round. Altman, who is also a veteran San Shou fighter from Texas, needed to fight off spinning kicks and high round houses. He finally took a spinning back kick against the cage before being finished off by Cung Le's devastating right hand. The fans were definitely there to see a spectacular win, and Cung Le did not disappoint.

Out of curiousity.... Are there any San Shou competitions in CA?
I have seen some CMA tournaments around that have "sparring" events. BUT, when I look closer it turns out to always be point sparring. WTF??

when cung lee fights a goog wrestler and submission artist he's going to be in trouble!
the guy never been on the ground for more than
30 sec.

any fighter from a stand-up only sport would be in trouble.
However, it's obvious Cung Le has a wrestling background, so maybe he wouldn't be so lost.

Cung le wrestled for West Valley College in California. In 1990 he won the California Community College Championships at 158lbs. I don't think he'd be totally lost on the ground.

His next fight is June 9th at the HPP in San Jose. Another Strikeforce event.
