Nice fight!
I've never seen anyone throw with a full back-arching guillotine either.
Very impressive!
I'm interested in how the striking has changed recently. Most of the blows seem to be long punches more like southern Chinese style than boxing or kickboxing. I used to practise this kind of striking in Canton, we found it difficult to use in kickboxing matches. My teacher said that in a real fight, with the shooting and grappling, the Chinese style of fighting was more practical; having a lower stance, more extended guard and longer strikes. Fifteen year ago I was doubtful. Now as the MMA has evolved, its looking more and more like the kind of sparring we used to do (except the ground work is much more sophisticated now)so I guess Sifu was right!
I beleive that as the rules and restrictions are taken away, all martial arts will change until they look pretty similar. Again my teacher was telling me this stuff a long time ago so my question is: Are the martial arts really evolving, or are they going back around to the pre sporting/dancing type stuff to a more traditional form?
David.
All fighting styles will eventually look like the original art of Giocco Stretto...
Here's my favorite photo. It's from the 1972 Olympics and shows Wilfried Dietrich throwing 400+ pound, two time NCAA champ Chris Taylor.

(Good example of the smaller guy getting it done.)
Garold Marion
Garold,
That has got to be one of the greatest wrestling action shots ever.
Donna,
I think I know your brother.
Tim,
My brother says that you trained in Giocco Stretto a little bit.
Do you like?
