All SBGi Gym's teach using the "I" method.

The 'I' Method by Matt Thornton

"Introduction"
Introduce the basics of the movement, perform that smoothly, and slowly, and make sure they are done correctly. (Whatever that movement happens to be, punch, submission, escape, takedown, etc). It's during this phase that the WHY, HOW, and WHEN are "explained", but not yet experienced.

"Isolation"
Isolate this is the drill stage. Whatever the movement happened to be, it is now placed into a drill where the athletes use progressive resistance against each other, and actually learn to apply the move in the context of an Alive, resisting opponent.

The level of resistance depends entirely on the level of conditioning and experience of the athletes drilling. The types of drills are literaly infinite. The important part is we Never teach only the Introduction Stage.

the Introduction Stage is ALWAYS followed by a drilling phase. This is so Aliveness is ALWAYS incorporated in EVERY class, regardless of whether the person is a raw beginer, or pro fighter.

"Intregration"
Integration at this stage it's all brought together, and the game is taken back from the parts to the whole, to end the class, and the workout. This is almost always done in all classes, even beginners.
