1) Tell you, FROM EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE, that Painter is a very good MA AND give MY OPINION of his abilities
2) Tell you to not waste more than a few hundred dollars and a few days with him because everything he has to share, OR WILL SHARE with you can be gleaned in that amount of time. Basically, his teaching method is flawed.

But you pencil pushing geeks and clowns don't have enough back-bone to actually go down to Texas and back up ANYTHING you say about yourselves or Painter.

I have been there - I know what he can do, not from some forum, or video, or picture and not just from my own abilities but from what I have seen him do to so-called MA such as your self.

I can not take full responsibility for my training or lack thereof but I finally took enough responsibility to go somewhere else and it was NOT to this sorry excuse for a forum thread.

Obvioulsy Nelms was the best of all students and that's why he never got out of the basics. The classes at the Gompa are very small and would be considered almost private lessons in most schools, a lot of people join then leave because they don't realize how IMA teaching is different than they're previous Karate, Judo, etc classes they got at the MacDojo, where they thought they had a bunch of progression. Probably more progresion in a gymnastics class then a MacDojo experience, except you don't get a pretty belt.

Let me clarify some of my views and beliefs before responding to some of your comments in this and other threads.

About Mr. Painter. I have heard from many reliable sources that he is a good fighter. I do not doubt his ability to handle himself in a fight. I do doubt some of his claims about his linage and training.

I don't really care too much about his claims; I just view them as creative marketing. If he can successfully teach his students to fight and his students are happy with the results, so be it. I am unhappy with his refusal to take any responsibility for the authenticity of his claims but reserves the right to continue making them ... just because “that's what his teacher told him”. I find it un-ethical to pass on information he knows might be wrong.

The person I have issues with isn’t Mr. Painter it’s with you. My primarily reason is your illogical claim that Mr. Painter “could Easily mop the floor with EVERYONE in this forum - ALL AT THE SAME TIME”. You seem to imply that it is wrong for me to find objections with your opinion because I don’t personally know you or Mr. Painter. But using the same line of reasoning isn’t it wrong of you to make such claims without personally knowing all members of this forum?

Another issue I have is you calling members of this forum “pencil-neck idiot savant”, another claim about people you personally know nothing about. This and your personal attack on me without merit or cause leads me to make an offer without time limit. If you are ever in Los Angeles or Orange County, I am willing to meet you so we can personally know each other.

Everyone here is asking Mr. Painter to put up or shut up and show up!!!

Why don't you bad asses show up to his teaching area and challenge him or his students and then all this name calling, lineage loving, and keystroked attitudes will be resolved.

Look here. The bottom line is that Mr. Painter has 9 dragons in his bagua, wears a ten gallon hat and carries a holstered six-gun, and at night he practices his martial arts in secret squirrel stealth mode with a beret and fatigues.

I believe these facts alone lend great credibility to the legitimacy of Mr. Painter as a qualified instructor and lineage-holder of a style of bagua.

Funny, I have only studied Jiulong for a little over 4 years (but with about 15 years prior MA background in other bagua lineages and external styles). So your '8' years with Painter over a '20' year period greatly supersedes my measly 4 years.

But on that note during my 4 years besides the BASICS as you so elequantly put it I have learned:

- several qigong methods (for both martial and health aspects of various levels)
- waigong training
- neigong training
- BaGua Forms (variants of the 5 Circles as one example)
- at least 4 different kinds of push hands (stationary, linear walking, circle walking and free style push hands)
- meditation, daoyin methods, nutrition
- methods of thickening the fascia for types of iron body training
- and the list goes on........

and although I have yet to train in it myself, I know of many of my seniors that have learned many of his weapons, iron palm, and other training methods.

So Mr. Nelms either you are yet again another typical troll that that is lying through your teeth (or fingers in this case) or you just plain suck as a student.

Either way you are not a good representative of the art both in morals, and martial skills as well as your vocabulary & grammar skills.
