Tim's Discussion Board: Martial Artist - Miscellaneous: Hsiung Yang-ho

Hello all Tai Chi and enthusiasts of Chinese Kung Fu,

I was browsing the Tai Chi sites and came across this site mentioning a VERY FAMOUS TAI CHI GRANDMASTER called ERLE MONTAGUE.

Please excuse me if I offend some people by telling some FACTS that I know about Erle.

Apart from his Sifu in London namely Sifu Chu Kin Hung he has in his part time article writing for Australasian Fighting Arts magazine met martial artists who showed and taught the most central points to Tai Chi boxing. What he learned from Sifu Chu was very different. What he learnt from another source was of the very tight small frame Tai Chi which he would reveal.

I believe this Tai Chi Sifu is still in Australia. The last that I heard is that this Sifu had basically gone semi retired from teaching.

I know fairly well that this Sifu transmitted some VITAL pointers only for no more than two days and this TOTALLY changed Erle"s ability to a much more fluid, dynamic, powerful, etc style.
All of a sudden Erle"s style changed as evident in his books, videos, etc. This, I wont go into at the moment as it is a bit long.

Remember Erle harping on endlessly about "dragon prawn boxing"? Well, Erle coined this term for it as he did not know the REAL name or term for such techniques. These knowledge came from this Sifu

I hope what I have said reveals my credibility and is telling the truth.

I DO KNOW the name of this Sifu but do not have his permission to name. I dont think he would be too happy to be revealed and people beating to his door. This Sifu has incredible skills in healing too. He has been known to have treated patients of epilepsy and reduced their fits from 2 to 3 fits a week to only having 2 light tremors in 20 weeks by just treating them once. Yes, you saw it correctly----just one treatment !!! You might as well say that this Sifu could cure epilepsy.

Unlike Erle"s Chang Yiu Chun, this Sifu can be found. This is a fact.

Please post any question or queries and I will try to answer. By the way I am not computer or internet literate and I must endeavour to find your forum again. Keep up the the GOOD work. People are waking up to Erle being a fast one. I had known all this about Erle since 1986 but no one really could catch up with his antics.

I have to retire for the night and I hope I can sleep from all these excitement!!!

till we meet again,

Confucius.

Dear all,

I just cant get to sleep. I have not read the other participants messages until 5 minutes ago but my my my my, I will have to spend some time going through answering quite a number of things about Erle.

I will also risk my life and possible relationship with this Sifu by approaching him as soon as I can.

Regards again,

Confucius.

Does this Sifu consider Erle to be a competent instructor of "real" Taijiquan today? Has he gained any real skill and arrived at a stage where he can be called a "master" in this Sifus eyes?

- What styles does this teacher teach? What lineage? Does he also do Dim-Mak?

Actually, I don't think this unnamed Sifu really exists, the same as Chang Yiu-chun.

Hello all,

It is still early days but I will definitely get information about Erle"s Tai Chi journey, etc.

In the meantime please write in your questions, etc as that would help me to answer and explain the fuller picture. In my opinion, the more questions, the better.

When there are lots of questions then I will start answering them. Like any of you, it is very unsettling when one is left with that void/emptiness like one's house having been robbed; a big part is missing from your heart and soul.

No doubt, if Erle has read my first letter, he WILL DEFINITELY KNOW who and what I am talking about.

In the meantime, please be patient.

regards,
Confucius.

Here's my first question:

what does "it is still early days" mean?

(I think you're making a very clever pun)

OK, here are some more questions:

What role, if any, did Chang Yiu Chun play in the transmission of knowledge to Erle?

Where did Erle gain his knowledge of Dim Mak?

Where did Erle gain his knowledge of Qi Disruption?

Is Qi Disruption really the progenitor of all the Internal Martial Arts (as Erle claims)?

Who conferred upon Erle the title "Grandmaster of Tai Chi Chuan"?

Has Erle ever tested his fighting ability in real life?

yours sincerely

I have seen Erles Old Yang style on tape, and it is just to close to the Chen Pan Ling Form; for Erle to have made it up.

I dont know or have any reason to support this guy(Erle). I can only tell you his form is really close to the Original Chen Pan Ling form, which is old yang, chen style, and wu style, but primarily "old yang" style.
