Tim's Discussion Board: Martial Artist - Miscellaneous: John Bracy
By Rob S on Friday, December 28, 2001 - 01:02 pm: Edit Post

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone on this board have any experiences with John Bracy? I believe he teaches Ba Gua, Tai Ji and Xing Yi in Costa Mesa.
I reside in South Orange County and found his school just recently. Just wondering if he's a legit teacher, and if his skills are up to par with other teachers in this area (not that there are that many). As a note, I am planning on visiting Tim's school as well (although it is a little out of the way for me...) but want to look at all the possibilities.

I'd be interested to hear your opinions.

Thanks,
Rob S.

I know John very well. I think he is an excellent teacher but judging somebody's teaching style is always subjective thing so I'll abstain from any comparison. As far as his skills are concerned... Well, I've been in martial arts for over twenty years, different styles, different teachers, full contact, street fighting (when I was young and stupid), so I think you can trust me on this one: he is not somebody I would want to fight. He really knows how to use his art which is something I can't say about majority of so called Internal martial arts teachers I've met.

Good luck.

George

I've visited John several times. Seems like a pretty good teacher and has always been a gracious host. If your interest is in t'ai chi ch'uan you may also want to visit the class I attend; info at http://www.wustyletaichi.com/
