Anyone heard of Tse Yau Pang's method of Pa Kua?

T. Y. Pang is probably more well-known for his teaching of Dong Yingjie's taijiquan (Dong was a student of Yang Cheng-fu).

Pang studied baguazhang with Sun Xikun for perhaps a year or two in Hong Kong, where Sun had fled after the 1949 revolution in mainland China. Pang writes a little about Sun in his book on taijiquan.

Sun in turn had studied with Cheng Tinghua's son, Cheng You-long. Sun had previously studied xingyiquan.

Pang's baguazhang teaching is based on Sun Xikun's 8 basic palm changes. Basics practices include various stretches and chansijin-type drills, and circle-walking while holding static postures. I don't know whether Pang ever taught baguazhang weapons (he does know Yang style taiji jian).

Joseph Crandall translated Sun Xikun's book on baguazhang from the 1930s. In addition to brief discussions of history and philosophy, Sun goes through the 8 basic palm changes as well as demonstrating some of the bagua weapons. Crandall's translation did not include a fairly esoteric chapter on Daoist meditation which is in the original Chinese text.

Pang does teach pakua weapons but in a simplified manner, including staff, double-edged and single-edged sword. The weapons are held in a natural way (you have to have previous training in these weapons to know what I mean by natural) and you walk the pa kua circle while doing the changes. The weapon in your hand follows the changes. Simple.
