Hi all,
Has anyone experienced different "psychic results" from your qigong training? The Chinese call this EHF (Extraordinary Human Faculties) and there is only beginning research on these. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bodhiddharma spent some years meditating alone in a cave staring at the walls... Eventually, it was rumoured, that he was able to hear the conversations of ants; which, in turn have led some to speculate that he was insane.

When done by the wrong people at the wrong time, meditation, "brainwashing", self-hypnosis and other forms of mind-work often lead to more misery than benefit. On both a personal and a social level.

Still, standing qigong is a fascinating area of training and there are hints that standing still for long periods of time can activate the mind and body in surprising ways. I recently saw a special on traditional Inuit (eskimo) seal hunting practices in which the white narrator was talking about how long his old native mentors could stand above a blow-hole in the ice without moving a muscle and while holding a metal hook poised to scoop the seal out of the water when it came up to breath. The scientist said he could only stand for a little while like his friends who did it for hours at a time.

Perhaps, there is a genetic component to the value of being still as our ancestors had to do while hunting for hundreds of thousands of years before civilization replaced "soul" with "learning".

I noticed that I start to sense danger or bad intentions. I think it's the qigong I've been doing.

But...

It could also be because of the spider that bit me. That hurts!
