Tim,
I stopped training last year abruptly, just losy my motivation to train. This was after over 20 years of training almost continuosly in one style or another, the last 6 years mainly in taiji and ba gua. I've deceided to get back to things, especially after reading your excerpt in Jess' book Neijiaquan.
My question is, what do you suggest to get the ball rolling again?
Walter Joyce
Hi Walter,
I recommend hanging out in a bar in a rough neighborhood. When you encounter some hard hittnig thugs, begin spouting off smart mouthed comments to everything they say (parroting every word they say in a high-pictched, girly voice usually pushes all the right buttons).
This is a great way to gadge your current level of ability and when you recover from the beating, will spur you into launching a thorough training regimin.

Hi Bob #2,
Thank you for the sage advice.
Walter
Hi Walter,
Although I realize Bob #2 is never wrong, my advice would be to get back in shape by any means you prefer, starting off slowly with solo training and then going back to practice and spar with others.
Thanks Tim.
I would not worry much about Bob#2's advice. This obviously is a self motivational method he used and it, more than likely, went completely awry. Hence, a very good explaination of his currant mental condition.
