hello everyone,

ive read before in a tai chi book about boiling the chi in the stomach, they said something about constant boiling, but that is all. does anyone know what boiling is:-)!

thanks, Robert (proud to be the butt of every bruce lee joke)

Robert,

Why do you think chi will be in the stomach?

Boiling is when you heat water so hot it makes bubbles.

I read in a book about a pump I could use in conjunction with pills which would double the length and girth of my manhood, which would cause extremely attractive women to be under my spell.

Does anyone know anything about this?

bob#2,

i have something that may help with your problem.
first climb a very tall tree, then tie your manhood to a branch, and then jump off.

hope this helps. rob.

i did that on a dare once and the branch broke off. not only did i win the bet, i went home with a kansas city chief's cheerleader, who was dating the guy who dared me.

thanks for reminding me of that fond memory!

(in my previous post, i was pointing out that you can't believe everything you read)

(daring you)

Robert:
I now realize you will ADOPT anybody even a burnt out old loser like me in your vain attempt to create legitimacy and credence to your lineage.
But it is with you and Tai Chi, you and Judo, you and Ba Gua; AS it is with you and me- there is no lineage for you to claim.
but if you must promote your bastard line lets give praise to your MOTHER WIT that gave birth to a witless son

chi chi boob,

well yeah youre very right, i have no lineage to proudly represent as of the current moment, though in my area i do have some very prominent options, and as soon as i have the money and time i will have a lineage to RUB IN YOUR FACE, but until then, stop badgering me for child support, youre no longer eligible after you turn 18.

rob(who's your daddy!)

Lineage has no real meaning. It is tantamount to saying, my Daddy said, my Mommy said. However, what can you really do?

Apart from the sarcasm above, what does this term boiling chi really mean? Your best bet is to subtract the word chi since this can mean any and every kind of energy in an around us. Moreover, no one can tell you what good or bad chi is. Therefore, we now can concentrate on the word “boiling”.

Boiling is expansion and contraction. If we boil water, this is expansion but at the same time it (the water) is evaporating this is contraction. If we freeze the water it is contracting and at the same time expanding. So the term Boiling is a hint about expansion and contraction and something, for all who read it, to discover on there own.

"Lineage has no real meaning."

Don't be stupid, of course it does. You shen wu guys are fortunate to come from a lineage that stretches back from Tim. Whatever path he might have chosen (and he chose a couple of good ones) your progress is, at least in part, becuase of those lineages. Don't disrespect that.

I'm not a member of Tim's Shen Wu Martial Art's School. Lineage is only a calling card it does not denote any one persons skill level. That is your responsiblity as well as mine.

But try to learn a competent skill without it. I get your point (Can I say BTDT?) but you dismiss it out of hand. Whatever your school you have a lineage, it's not just a traditional thing. So to say I study with Luo Dexiu or Mark Coleman or Wayne Gretsky doesn't put me in their shoes. But it gives me a backlog of...tradition, if you will, that can put me up on some club fighter/skater/craftsman that might not have had that particular "skill set" in their book.

boiling?

well it was just a question about sinking the internal chi to the dantien and keeping it there, with every breath outward pushing more and more chi into the dantien until it becomes unbearable, the sensation is similar to falling from a great height or riding a rollercoaster on the downfall, i only did this once and i abruptly stopped since i couldnt take it anymore, and it was rather painful since the chi rose up into my back and got stuck there, so i dont do that anymore, and i dont think i could if i tried, ive been rather stressed and my concentration has been a little off.
but my question was, what is the use of this.

Lineage is what Chinese Martial Arts has as its statement of credibility.

If I graduate from Harvard it does not mean I'm a better lawyer than if I graduated from Glendale School of Law but we know the network made at Harvard is better. Not different; better.

UCSF, UCLA and UCSD Schools of Medicine are better than The Ross School of Medicine. All that is well known in the medical community.

So what difference does lineage make?
Well with lawyers and MDs the state regulates and licenses the practitioner- to weed out the quacks and shisters ( we hope), in Martial Arts there is no regulatory body and in the USA "The land of the Masters" there is a Great Grand Master on every street corner because that type of self promotion is required for marketing and product packaging.
There is no regulatory body or quality assurance in Chinese Martial Arts, not everybody is a champion but the greater CMA community recognizes the accomplished greats like Sun, Lu Tang. It is undisputable a direct line from his Tai Chi is the gold standard- like Harvard. The Tai Chi "Master" at your community park center may be from Justin Stone school a lineage recognized as the greatest phoney of our time ( at least in the circles I run in).
The School never dictates the skill of the student yet I am hard pressed to think of any greats that did not have one or several very accomplished teachers, expecially those who are now and have been champions and became Founders of a new Ways of thinking and of training.

It is very lucky for us- Tim is a champion of that calibre and may be our new Urishiba, Kano, or Sun, Lu Lang.
Practitioners like them do not seridipiously appear from the ether
It takes hard , hard , hard work, practice, persistance over time, love and enjoyment of the art, talent and good teachers.
and without at least one good teacher I say you hav'nt a chance, not even if your Tank Abbot.

I can't help you with this, robert. Qi is not my area of study.

Robert,

What does it feel like when chi gets stuck in your back? What makes it stick?

By Tony on Friday, October 07, 2005 - 03:19 pm: Edit Post

It hurts. It mainly gets stuck in the head and causes headaches and a red face.If you feel its stuck in the back try bringing it over the shoulders and back to the dan tian.Or better still leave these practices alone as they can cause some serious health problems if they go wrong.

It can also lead you to believe wacky things.
