Hello everyone!

I´ve been reading lots of posts on this messageboard and I think that, although the conversation sometimes goes to extremes, there is lots of good info to be found here.

The reason that I´m writing this post is that I want to get your opinions on the best composition for fight-training.

Im thinking of a weekly (or longer?) Monday-Sunday program to follow.

In short: What (in your view) is the best composition of weightlifting, conditioning, sparring, running, rest etc. for fighting?

it totally depends on where you are at.

you need to have an honest assessment of what your strengths and weaknesses are. If your a great fighter, but you always run out of gas in the 2nd, that's one thing. If you've got all the energy in the world, but little idea what to do with it, that's another.
What type of fightin is it, and what types of qualities does this type of fighting demand? If you answer the questions about the fighter, and the fight, you'll probably find that you already have many of the answers.

thats the best answer you have on training fighters, obviously he probably knows who he is as a fighter he just wants to know when to do weights plyos core runing and resting as a fighter thats what I focus on as well as proper nutrition but with fighting be careful not to tear down to much muscle daily as a wieght lifter would, focus on heart rate

my understanding of it is
1.wt sessions 2-3xs/wk and less before the fight.
2.running sprint intervals 2-3xs/wk
3.general conditioning w/ body wt every day
4.skills every day: (combos)shadow boxing, pad drills, partner drills,
5.sparring (i don't remember, but I wanna say 3-4 d/wk).

lopez is right about rest though, i always get injured w/ the other stuff like wt training and running, maybe i'm not sparring hard enough lol. the wt. sessions should be fast paced w/ big moves and little rest to focus on strength endurance and not max strength.

One great resource is Ross Enamait (a boxer) at rossboxing.com
I have a couple of his books and think they are great (and cheap...30 bucks). Infinite Intensity has a tough conditioning program that will get you what you want. it combines all the wt training, running, plyos, shadow boxing, sparring. you might be able to get all the info you need off for free off his website.

anaerobic conditioning is usually a safe place to start. db circuits, sprint intervals and the like.

next would be mobility/stability

then absolute strength

then power

then power endurance

I lift weights for strength/power 2-3 times per week. Once per week for conditioning.

I train in short sessions: 60-90 mins grappling/randori/pad work , about every other day. sometimes twice on monday, twice on wednesday then fri/sat.
It's a lot of work, but none of it is back-to-back, and none of it is individually voluminous.
Short and sweet, fresh and frequent. I feel pretty good. I've been dropping body weight, and going up in all my lifts, and getting great training sessions in.

Ok. Thank you for all the feedback!

The fighting in mind is full contact standup fighting with glows. Striking, kicking and throwing is allowed. (no groundfighting)

i'll stick by my earlier 'anaerobic endurance' comment. Db circuits, built around compound leg movements and oly hybrids. Lasting between 2 and 6 minutes, with rest from 30-150 secs, and 3-6 repetitions of these circuits.
