What push up is harder, cat, fist, or regular? Which one would be more effective for gaining strength in arms and shoulders? I'd love some feedback from anyone willing to give insight.

Thanks,

Tiger - put the flat of yr feet against a wall, stick yr butt in the air to make a v-shape with yr body, fingertips touching and do pushups. Gets arms, shoulders, and back.

In general, cat (Hindu) push ups will build more strength in the arms and shoulders than regular push ups, as well as stretching the back, abdomen and legs.

Is there any difference in the effectivness of regular push ups or doing push ups on your fists?

As far as the muscles of the arms and shoulders are concerned, there isn't much difference. Push ups on the knuckles are good for conditioning the wrists and fists for punching.
