Question about strange feeling during practice

Tim's Discussion Board: Qi Gong / Power Training : Question about strange feeling during practice
By robert on Thursday, December 10, 2009 - 07:47 am: Edit Post

Lately i have been practicing my xingyi a little bit more often, mostly five elements because thats all i know. lol and san-ti.

the weird thing is, during san-ti, i get this really weird sensation in my stomach and hands, its really heavy and tingling, almost like a limb that is falling asleep.

Am i doing something wrong? Or should i continue to practice like this, because i have gotten to a point where i can pretty much will it to happen even when im not doing any forms or exercises.

Is there something wrong with my circulation? Should i keep going after the sensation becomes really strong or should i stop? right now when i start getting that weird feeling i just stop, because im not sure if im hurting myself or not. Ive been trying to get to holding a santi stance for about an hour, but halfway through this pins and needles stuff kicks in and i have to stop. What if im cutting off circulation to my brain and i pass out or something. lol. I dont feel faint or anything, in fact its quite invigorating, but its unusual and im not sure what it is. Anyone else get this? ive been trying to google it and all i can find is "these sensation are normal bla blabla" nothing useful really. I hope this isnt a symptom of parkinsons disease or something like that.

Thanks, and sorry for the weird question.

Man i just reread this and i sound like an idiot. oh well. Any advice? Tim? anyone?

I had the same sensation early this year at the hospital, usually after pressing the morphine button. Must be the brain-thumb connection.

An hour is too long to stand in any position.

I'd recommend backing off on the time you spend standing to 20 minutes or so a session and see how that feels.

That type of feeling often ocurs from prolonged pressure on a nerve. But is more typical in an arm or leg.

You hold the stance for an hour but half way through you have to stop?
Thats half an hour.
If the sensation is invigorating then why are you stopping?
I say continue with these normal sensations to there natural end, see if they are coming from Parkison's or if it ia a unblocking of your Chi power pathways that lead to a higher level of understanding and ability.
thats what I recommend.
Oh and no sitting on your ass at the computer so much, and don't eat anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. These will definately help.
