Hi Tim,
I've been on a break from regular training (Judo) for quite a few months due to work and a new born, and I'm now getting back into training.
I want to get into some Tabata training to get my cardio back and get in better shape, but I also want to avoid injuries that will prolong my ability to get in shape.
I was wondering if you had any advice for getting back into shape fast while avoiding injuries. Is Tabata training too intense to begin with? Are there any other types of interval training you would recommend to ease one back into training?
Thanks,
Craig
Hi Craig,
I would not start with the Tabata protocol too early. You should start slowly and make sure you are in relatively good shape before you start to go super intense.
You can start with interval training at a reduced level of intensity and work your way up to full effort intervals fairly quickly, but I'd advise erring on the side of caution.
Thanks, Tim.
