Hi
I´ve just started using kettlebells and i´m sort of in the getting-to-know-how-to-proper-use-them-phase.
That gotten me bothered is the rack position.
When I´ve gotten to the position when I´m holding the kettlebell in front of my chest it makes my spine somehow curved and i´m thinking that getting the spine curved when holding heavy weights can´t be any good. Any suggestions?
You should probably keep your spine straight. If you can't then try using a lighter kettle bell.
I think they should make "kettlebells" actual bells that serve a dual purpose as actual kettles. That way, you can make tea, music, and practice at the same time. Plus if you mess up you will get burned. Thats true shaolin methodology. Embrace your roots!
Dont hold the kettlebell so high, until you can lift them into the proper position without using your back too much for leverage.
Thanks for the tips
What I meant was; the spine is not curved like it would be when flexed in a sagital plane

He´s supposed to be somekind of expert on this and when looking at him it looks like his spine is curved/bent
Steve Cotter knows his stuff.
Hi Tim
I´m sure what Mr. cotter knows what he´s talking about and what he teach.
It´s just that, to me it looks like you have a curved spine when in the rack postion and maybe it isn´t wrong doing it if one takes it slow - building up strength/endurance. It just looked strange.
