Okay Princesses...
Let me straighten one thing out:

There's more money around the ring than inside it.
That's why Don King can buy and sell fighters. Same thing with the guy who runs the UFC.

The contracts you sign for the UFC don't pay too much. It goes into someone elses pocket.

You want power, go to school, start your own business (don't have to go to school necessarily), make a lot of money - it's amazing what kind of power it buys you.

You want hot chicks - Fat, out of shape blows with big bucks have hotties all around them... Hmmm
Lesson over.

Fatbiotch, I'm starting to think you are some kind of angry/abused teen who just likes to argue for the sake of arguing. Perhaps you got "bunga" from your Uncle when you were a kid or something. Why don't you just go back and listen to your Death Metal whilst drawing pictures of car accidents and dismembered bodies or writing suicide notes. Or perhaps paint up your face like a skull with white and black paint then scowl and make mean and evil faces in your mirror and then head off to the shopping mall to try to scare little kids and peoples wives. Do everyone a favor and don't come back to this board you annoying putz.

Taiwan 69-73,

I've been away from the PC for a few days.

Thankyou for your reply. Your description sounds roughly consistent with what I've been taught, namely, the training has two phases - a series of exercises that increase the internal strength of the body practised in conjunction with self striking, a systematic flow to the exercises and certain health admonitions.

Although the way I was taught, the exercises minus self striking are to be part of ongoing training so maybe not the same thing after all. I must also add that my exposure to such things is through Shaolin not Neijiaquan.

I'm interested to hear of this congruency in training (at least on the surface)in the internal arts as I've long suspected that they must also contain some self striking to achieve impact resistant results but wasn't sure.

One other question if you will indulge me - The exercises I learn't for internal strength are very dynamic, almost balistic in nature and quite a workout in themselves. Is this representative of your internal strength exercises? I'm asking as I've been under the impression that Neijiaquan place more emphasis on standing practises (albeit not the usual San Ti etc) for building internal strength.

Ozzy Dave,

Man, I looked for the thread in which you asked about nei kung training for about an hour and a half. I hope this is the right thread.

Your question is in regard to the nature of of nei kung training right?

My nei kung training was not like any other training an MA will ever encounter. It is very unique. The minimum period of this training was 120 days. It becomes physically draining. Only a couple of weeks in you start to feel tired 24/7. You are not just tired during the exercises, you are tired constantly. After a couple of months you feel like a zombie. You can't get enough rest. The training takes over your body. The nei kung takes over.

The only physical pounding you take is during the hardening portion. The hardening portion is NOT important part. The important part is that which precedes the hardening each day. The hardening portion is MUCH LESS PAINFUL than the internal portion.

As I said in the earlier post I promised my teacher (Hsu Hong Chi) that I would maintain secrecy in regard to this training. He told me that I could only teach my sons or my very best, most devoted, most loyal students. If I say too much I give away too much.

Once you complete the training you maintain not only through the use of breathing oriented internal sets but through the use of nei kung in most every physical movement you make. Someone on here made fun when I spoke of focusing the breath. Focusing the breath is essential to every use of nei kung or chi kung as it is to increasing power in every movement you make.

In discussion of chi kung and nei kung many people seem to think that the two are mutually exclusive. They are not. They are as intertwined as two sea snakes in heat. Each feeds the other and feeds on the other. Each eminates from the center but is directed by the mind.

Thanks Charlie, I appreciate the time and info you gave me especially as you can't disclose much about the subject.

Dave
